After having the pleasure of assisting 5 births, outside of my own 2 home-births, I felt a passionate calling to pursue work as a doula. What is a doula? You may be wondering. A doula is someone (usually a woman) who is present during prenatal appointments (sometimes), labor, and birth. Some may offer postpartum services, breastfeeding support, and newborn care education. Different doulas may provide different services, but generally we provide physical and emotional support, help deal with the unexpected, support you in the birthing method of your choice, assist other birth attendees, encourage shorter duration of labor, help you achieve unmedicated birth, and provide you with tools to advocate for yourself effectively with confidence in regards to your unique needs, preferences, and wants.
I personally offer:
Prenatal Support
Information on vaccinations, routine checks, treatment options, and birthing options.
Connections and resources to OBGYNs, Nurse Midwives in hospital settings, Midwives in the home, Pelvic Floor Therapists, Chiropractors, and ENT (ears, nose, and throat doctors).
Tools and practices for effective advocacy for yourself and your specific needs and preferences.
Emotional support through previous birth experiences, trauma, and grief.
Pain Management during labor.
Information and research on topics that may be concerning to you or that you may need more information on.
Birth Photography
Placenta Encapsulation
Postpartum support, educations, and extended resourses.
Breastfeeding support and consultation with references to Breastfeeding Counselors if needed.
Connections to support groups and other local moms in the community ready to lend a helping hand, listening ear, or play dates.
While I am new to the local community as a Child Birth Professional, I have had the pleasure of helping many moms in the community through breastfeeding challenges and coaching and encouraging women to achieve the birth they longed for. I am an advocate for natural child birth, as I believe women are physiologically created to birth babies joyfully, with confidence in themselves and their bodies, to do what they were created to do. I understand many women have fears and concerns about certain situations and I am honored to provide information on alternative options to help in any way I can. It is possible to achieve an (almost) painless birth, to do so joyfully and confidently, and to reap the benefits of the emotional and mental high a woman receives from the hormones that are released during such an experience. Birth is not meant to be feared.
I pray, if you are reading this, that you are your unborn child are blessed with guidance, discernement, knowledge, wisdom, love, encouragement, and protection in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ. I would be more than honored to support you and encourage you through your birthing journey. Feel free to call me for more information 936-404-5785 or 936-899-5955.
